أوضح محسن المصطفى، الباحث في مركز عمران للدراسات الاستراتيجية، في لقاء ضمن برنامج سوريا اليوم على تلفزيون سوريا، أن “قسد” لم تستوعب بعد التحوّلات التي رافقت سقوط النظام ومسار السلام داخل تركيا، مؤكداً عدم وجود مؤشرات على تغيّر جوهري في الاستراتيجية الأمريكية، مع تدخل المبعوث الأمريكي توماس براك لاحتواء التصعيد وربطه بالتزام الحكومة باتفاق 10 آذار.

ورأى المصطفى أن استمرار استهداف حلب بطائرات مسيّرة إيرانية قد يدفع نحو خيار عسكري لتحييد الخطر، فيما لا تملك “قسد” القدرة أو المصلحة لخوض مواجهة واسعة. كما حذّر من احتمال لجوئها إلى أسلوب التفجيرات والخلايا النائمة، ما يستدعي جهداً استخبارياً مكثفاً، مرجحاً أن استمرار استهداف المدنيين قد يدفع واشنطن لتخفيف غطائها عنها.

وفي ما يتعلق بملف “داعش”، اعتبر المصطفى أن “قسد” توظف ورقة السجون ومخيم الهول للضغط، مرجحاً اتجاهاً لشراكة بين واشنطن والدولة المركزية لضمان استمرار احتجاز عناصر التنظيم.

Muhsen AlMustafa, a researcher at the Omran Center for Strategic Studies, explained in an interview on the “Syria Today” program on Syria TV that the SDF has not yet absorbed the transformations that accompanied the fall of the regime and the peace track inside Turkey. He stressed that there are no indicators of a fundamental change in the U.S. strategy, noting the intervention of the U.S. envoy Thomas Barrack to contain the escalation and tie it to the government’s commitment to the March 10 agreement.

AlMustafa believed that the continued targeting of Aleppo with Iranian drones could push toward a military option to neutralize the threat, while the SDF neither has the capability nor the interest to wage a broad confrontation. He also warned that it may resort to bombings and sleeper cells, which would require intensive intelligence efforts, and suggested that continued targeting of civilians could prompt Washington to reduce its cover for it.

Regarding the ISIS file, AlMustafa considered that the SDF is leveraging the prisons and al-Hol camp as pressure tools, and suggested a trend toward a partnership between Washington and the central state to ensure the continued detention of the group’s members.
