Security and Military Shifts in Southern Syria and the Implications of Israeli Moves

Muhsen AlMustafa, a researcher at the Omran Center for Strategic Studies, discussed the security and military shifts in southern Syria and the implications of Israeli moves in the region during his appearance on Syria TV’s Wasat al-Balad program.

He noted that Israel’s approach is moving toward imposing a new security reality and using the negotiating phase to consolidate gains on the ground and secure a long-term security and military presence, within a broader effort to reshape regional balances.

He explained that the political and diplomatic track is the available option for addressing the Israeli presence at this stage while upholding Syrian national rights. He stressed the importance of supporting the resilience of residents of Quneitra and southern Syria and improving the services provided to them.

On Suwayda, he pointed to Israel’s efforts to exploit internal divisions and present itself as a protector of Syrian communities, warning of the repercussions for social cohesion and civil peace.
